Efforts for Developing Iranian Marine Tourism Continued:First Cruise Ship Enters Iranian Passenger Fleet

Two weeks after the Deputy Managing Director for Maritime Affairs of the Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) announced the first cruise ship joining the Iranian maritime fleet, the ocean-going cruise vessel "SUNNY" was berthed in Qeshm Island.

The vessel has entered the Persian Gulf waters to provide quality services and enable safe maritime voyages for tourists, an issue highly concentrated on by PMO in order to promote tourism and passenger activities in Iranian port and waterways.

The facilities of this ship include 3,500 square meters for restaurants, cafes, a spa, two cinemas, a library, a reading room, conference room, a playroom for children and an Iranian kitchen for preparing different Iranian dishes.

SUNNY is capable of transporting 150 sedan cars and 30 trucks, or 250 sedan cars alone. It is a Swedish vessel designed for short voyages of 4 to 7 days.

Upon the entry of this cruise ship into the warm Iranian waters, Mr. Mohammad Rastad commented: "This vessel will provide safe maritime voyages for our nation, and will help develop maritime passenger activities with quality services."
